Wishlist revenue
Plan: Premium for the report. Sales are recorded on every plan, so the history is there as soon as you upgrade.
Wishlist revenue shows how much of your store’s sales came from wishlists. It appears on the Analytics page as the Wishlist revenue card, with a How wishlist revenue is counted section below the product tables.
Attributed and influenced
Section titled “Attributed and influenced”Every order line Cove counts is one of two kinds:
| Kind | When a line counts |
|---|---|
| Attributed | The item was added to cart from the wishlist page or a shared list page. These add-to-cart buttons put a hidden line item property, _cove, on the cart line, and the order carries it. |
| Influenced | No _cove on the line, but the customer who placed the order had saved that product in the days before ordering (the attribution window). It counts whether or not the item is still on their wishlist. |
A line that is neither isn’t counted.
Guest checkouts can only be attributed. Influenced sales are matched by the ordering customer’s Shopify customer ID, so an order placed without a customer can’t be tied to a wishlist unless the line carries _cove.
The _cove property
Section titled “The _cove property”The hidden property holds a short random-looking code tied to the list, never the list itself, the share link or anything about the customer. Shopify’s checkout hides line properties that start with an underscore, and most themes hide them in the cart too. Cove checks only that the code is well formed, so an item added from someone else’s shared list counts as attributed too.
The attribution window
Section titled “The attribution window”Set it in Settings › Analytics & integrations, Wishlist revenue section, Influenced sales window: from 1 to 90 days, default 30. The limit is 90 because items a shopper removes are deleted 90 days after removal. A change applies to orders placed after you save it; orders already counted stay as they are.
What the report shows
Section titled “What the report shows”| Where | What |
|---|---|
| Wishlist revenue card | Attributed plus influenced revenue for the period, a trend badge against the period before, the number of wishlist sales (order lines), and a chart with the period before dashed. |
| How wishlist revenue is counted | A table of attributed and influenced revenue per day (or per week for 12 months), and a line with each total, the order line counts and how many of your orders had a wishlist item. |
Conversion reads as “N of M orders had a wishlist item”: M is every order the app received in the period, N the orders with at least one counted line.
Revenue per line is the line’s price times quantity, less the discounts applied to that line, in your store currency. Days are UTC days, like the rest of Analytics.
Several currencies
Section titled “Several currencies”Amounts are kept in the currency each order was placed in, and different currencies are never added together. If your store changed its currency within the period, the card and chart show the currency with the largest total, and the section below lists the others in a note.
Export
Section titled “Export”Export CSV › Wishlist sales downloads one row per counted line for the selected range, newest first, up to 5,000 rows:
ordered_at, order_id, line_item_id, product_id, title, kind (attributed or influenced), quantity, revenue, currency.
There is no customer ID, name, email or address in the file.
Below Premium
Section titled “Below Premium”The Wishlist revenue card shows a Premium badge and a See plans link instead of a number, and the Wishlist sales export isn’t offered. Cove keeps recording sales meanwhile, so when you move to Premium the report already covers past orders (up to 400 days back).
Orders and customer data
Section titled “Orders and customer data”- Cove reads new orders with the read-only
read_orderspermission and asks Shopify to send only the order and line IDs, the date, the customer’s Shopify ID and each line’s product, quantity, price, discounts and properties. - The customer ID is used only at that moment, to check for a saved product. It is not stored with the sale.
- Each counted line keeps the order, line and product IDs, the kind, quantity, amount, currency and date. Sales are deleted 400 days after the order.
- Each order is counted once, even if Shopify delivers it twice.
- Orders are protected customer data in Shopify. Shopify sends them to an app only once it has approved that app’s access, so if the report stays empty while your store takes orders, contact support.
