Monthly action quota

Plan: every plan has a monthly limit: 500 actions on Free, 3,000 on Starter, 10,000 on Pro and 25,000 on Premium.

Each plan includes a number of wishlist actions a month. The quota limits how many new saves your shoppers can make in a month, not how much is stored: saved wishlists are never deleted and there is no lifetime cap.

One action = one wishlist add. That is:

  • a shopper saving an item on your storefront: a heart on a product card or image, the product page button, the list picker in the save notice, or Save for later on a cart line;
  • an add through the storefront JavaScript API, which goes through the same storefront route;
  • an add through the REST API.

An add that changes nothing (the item was already saved) or that fails gives its action back.

  • Removing an item.
  • Moving an item between lists.
  • Creating, renaming, sharing or deleting a list.
  • Adding to cart from a wishlist.
  • A guest’s list merging into their account when they sign in.
  • Imports, however many items they add.
  • Undo and quick re-saves. Saving an item again within 10 minutes of removing it (the Undo in the save notice, or tapping a heart off and on) brings the same save back, with its note, saved price and date, and uses no action. This works even when the month’s limit is reached.

The count runs per UTC calendar month and starts again at 00:00 UTC on the 1st. Unused actions don’t carry over.

  • New saves pause until the 1st of next month or until you change plan. A higher plan’s limit applies at once.
  • Shoppers see a generic message, never anything about your plan: the storefront notice says “Couldn’t update your wishlist. Please try again.” and the My wishlist account page says “Couldn’t save that right now.” The REST API answers 429 with quota_reached.
  • Everything else keeps working: existing wishlists still show, shoppers can remove, move, share and add to cart, and nothing is deleted.
Where What
Plans page “N of M wishlist actions used this month” under Current plan, and a banner at 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% of the limit.
Home The same banner, from 90%.

Each banner says how many actions are used and the date the count starts again, and can be dismissed; it comes back in a new session, or when the next threshold is reached. If you move to a smaller plan in the middle of a month and are already past its limit, the usage reads as over the limit (for example “3,120 wishlist actions, over this plan’s 500”), and new saves stay paused until the month resets.
