Changing plans
Plan: every plan. Shopify Plus stores can use Free, Pro or Premium, not Starter.
The Plans page
Section titled “The Plans page”Open Plans in the app’s menu.
- Current plan shows your plan’s name, how many wishlist actions you’ve used this month, and, during a trial, a Free trial — N days left badge with the date the trial ends. The plan continues automatically after the trial.
- Manage plan opens Shopify’s plan page for Cove, which lists every plan and price. You choose, start a trial or cancel there; Shopify handles the billing.
- Try any paid plan free for 30 days appears instead when your store is on Free and has never had a Cove trial. Start 30-day free trial opens the same Shopify page.
- After a plan change, the first page you open shows Welcome to {plan} (upgrade) or Your plan has changed (downgrade).
Cove reads your plan from Shopify every time you open the app, so a change shows on every page straight away. The storefront follows on your next visit to the app, or overnight at the latest.
Upgrading
Section titled “Upgrading”The new plan’s features turn on as soon as the change goes through, and its limits apply at once, including a higher monthly action quota if saves were paused. Anything you set up on a higher plan before (custom icon, custom CSS, share links, API keys, list names) comes back as it was.
Downgrading
Section titled “Downgrading”Nothing is deleted. Wishlists, lists, list names, share links, settings and your saved design are all kept, and switching back to a higher plan turns everything on again without setting it up anew.
What pauses depends on the plan you move to:
| Feature | After a downgrade below its plan |
|---|---|
| Custom icon, custom CSS, save animations, social proof (Pro) | Paused on the storefront: the heart icon shows instead of your icon, no animation, no custom CSS, no social proof line. The Studio keeps your values and shows a “Paused on your store” banner; you can still switch them off. |
| Wishlist events for pixels, Klaviyo and Omnisend (Pro) | No longer published. |
| Multiple named lists (Pro) | Existing lists keep showing and shoppers can still move items between them, rename or delete them; creating a new list needs Pro. |
| Saved design presets (Pro) | Kept; you can apply or delete them, but not add or change one. |
| 90 days and 12 months of analytics, CSV export (Pro) | Analytics shows the last 30 days. Older data is kept. |
| Wishlist summary email (Pro) | Not sent. Your choice of frequency and language is kept. |
| Shareable wishlists (Starter) | Every share link shows a “not found” page until you upgrade again. The links themselves are kept, so the same links work again afterwards. |
| Alert emails and Notify me (Starter) | Free includes no alert emails, so none are sent and new Notify me requests aren’t taken. |
| Wishlist reminder emails (Starter) | Stop on the next run. You can switch them off, but not on. |
| Shopify Flow triggers (Starter) | No longer sent. |
| Save for later from the cart (Starter) | The button no longer shows on cart lines; the theme setting stays on. |
| Wishlist revenue report (Premium) | The report is hidden; sales are still recorded, so it’s complete when you upgrade. |
| REST API (Premium) | Every call with your keys answers 403 plan_required. The keys aren’t revoked and work again after an upgrade. |
Alert emails and wishlist actions follow the new plan’s monthly numbers. If you’re already over the smaller plan’s limit for the month, new saves and alerts wait until the next month.
Shopify Plus stores
Section titled “Shopify Plus stores”Starter isn’t available to Shopify Plus stores; Free, Pro and Premium are. If a Plus store is on Starter, every page of the app except Plans shows Choose a plan for Shopify Plus with a link to Plans. Your storefront and your shoppers’ wishlists keep working meanwhile, on Starter’s features, until you switch.
Uninstalling
Section titled “Uninstalling”Uninstalling cancels your plan in Shopify. Shopify then asks Cove to delete your store’s data about 48 hours later. See Privacy and GDPR.
