Wishlist page

Plan: every plan, including Free. Lists and sharing on this page follow their own plans: see Lists and sharing.

Every store with Cove has a wishlist page at /apps/wishlist on your own domain (for example https://yourstore.com/apps/wishlist). Shopify renders it inside your theme, with your header, footer, fonts and buttons. Search engines are asked not to index it.

The wishlist link and the View wishlist link in the save message both lead here. Its texts and layout are set in Design › Pages.

  • Signed-in customers see their wishlist straight away.
  • Guests briefly see “Loading your wishlist…” while Cove reads this browser’s wishlist, then the page loads again with their items. A banner offers Sign in to keep your wishlist on every device.
  • Anyone with nothing saved sees the empty state (below).

Items are listed 20 per page, newest first, with Previous and Next below.

Each saved item is a card with:

  • Image, linked to the product (the variant’s own image when it has one). Its shape follows Image shape in Design › Pages: Square (default), Portrait (3:4) or Natural.
  • Remove: a cross over the image’s top corner (see Removing an item).
  • Vendor, when Show the vendor is on (off by default).
  • Title, linked to the product.
  • Variant, option by option, for example “Size: M · Colour: Blue”, when a variant was saved.
  • Price, live, in the shopper’s currency. The compare-at price shows struck through when Show the compare-at price is on (on by default).
  • Price dropped badge, next to the price, when the price is now lower than when the item was saved.
  • Sold out badge over the image when the saved variant (or the whole product) is sold out; the cart button then reads “Sold out” and is disabled.
  • Add to cart, which adds one of the item to your theme’s cart as usual.
  • Note and, when the shopper has another list, Move to (see below).

A product you have deleted or unpublished shows as No longer available, with only the Remove button.

An item saved without a variant (from a card heart, for example) needs one before it can go in the cart. The card shows a chooser instead of the variant line:

  • One option with up to 6 values (sizes, say): a row of buttons, one per value.
  • Anything else: a dropdown, “Choose an option”.

Sold-out choices are disabled. Picking one updates the price shown on the card. Add to cart won’t submit until a choice is made. Products with a single default variant need no choice.

Note opens a small dialog where the shopper writes a note about the item (up to 500 characters) and taps Save note. The card then shows the note under its title. Notes are private: they never appear on a shared list.

When the shopper has more than one list, Move to opens a dialog listing their other lists (with item counts). Pick one and tap Move. See Lists and sharing.

Next to the page heading, Add all to cart adds every item on the page that is ready to buy, in one go. Items that still need a variant, or are sold out, are left out, and the page says so: “Items that need an option or are sold out are not included.” The button is disabled when nothing can be added.

The cross on a card removes the item from the list on show (if it is also on another list, it stays there). The card disappears, and a message offers Undo, which puts it back in the same place. See Undo. Removing the last card shows the empty state.

When the list is empty, shoppers see:

Part Default Change it in Design › Pages
Image A heart Empty state image (optional)
Title Your wishlist is empty Empty state title
Text Tap the heart on any product to save it here for later. Empty state text
Button Continue shopping, to your all-products collection Empty state button, Empty state button link

Corners, borders, the heart and the fonts follow your design; the buttons use your theme’s own button style. On themes that don’t style a standard button class, Cove gives the page’s buttons a look of its own.

When a shopper has several lists, tabs at the top switch between them. Manage lists (rename, create, delete) and Share this list sit on the right. Both are explained in Lists and sharing.

A list shared with a link opens at /apps/wishlist/s/… on your store. It shows:

  • The heading A wishlist shared with you and a short introduction (“Tap the heart on anything you like to start your own wishlist.”).
  • The list’s products, with prices, variant choice and Add to cart, like the owner’s page.
  • A heart on each card instead of Remove, so visitors can save items to their own wishlist.
  • A Start your own wishlist button to your home page.

It never shows the owner’s name, the list’s name, notes or anything else about the owner. Turn on Hide prices in Design › Pages to leave prices off. A paused, replaced or stopped link, or any link while your plan doesn’t include sharing, shows “This wishlist isn’t available.”

Add to cart on these pages tags the cart line with a hidden property so Cove can tell which orders came from a wishlist. Shoppers don’t see it. See Wishlist revenue.
